Student Spotlight: Dr. Miranda Arnold-Tolbert

Dr. Miranda Arnold-Tolbert is a post-doctoral fellow working in the Reducing Intoxicant Involved Sexual Consequences Lab (RIISC) through SHARC’s T32 program under the mentorship of Dr. Liana Hone. She received a B.S. in Biology at Agnes Scott College, a M.S. in Integrative Biology at Kennesaw State University, and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Georgia. Her dissertation work, under Dr. Jesse Schank, revolved around sex differences in compulsive alcohol use studying the neuronal mechanisms and hormonal influences on this behavior. Throughout her time at UGA, Dr. Arnold-Tolbert had the opportunity to present her work at local and national conferences, act as a teaching assistant in neuro-focused courses, and publish four peer-reviewed manuscripts (working on her fifth).

With her new role as a post-doc in the RIISC Lab, she hopes to gain experience in leadership and clinical research, focusing on women’s perspective on sexual risk and alcohol intake.
