SHARC Welcomes Lauren Nave

Lauren attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for undergrad, where she received her B.S. in Neurobiology. She then went on to receive her Master’s of Public Health degree with a concentration in Epidemiology from the University of Florida.

Lauren has joined SHARC as a SMILE study coordinator.

Research experience:
Lauren was first exposed to research during her junior year of college when she worked as a research assistant in the education psychology department on a project investigating learning and different representations of the atom. In graduate school, she pivoted to public health; her capstone project focused on chronic disease and social determinants of health-related disparities. She also interned on a phase II clinical trial investigating the use of AB-free kava as a smoking cessation aid during her last semester of graduate school.

Personal interests:
In her free time, Lauren enjoys spending time with her dog, a 3 year old Pomeranian-husky mix, and exploring Gainesville with her roommates. She especially enjoys attending the Haile farmers market and finding new ingredients to cook with!

Advice from Lauren:
While failure can be frustrating, it serves an even greater purpose in our growth than success.
